KB20140827 Remove Pro PC Cleaner

Image

One of our editors accidentally got the mentioned Pro PC Cleaner by Rainmaker Software Group LLC , according to its Digital Signatures. To give more specs, that guy, a malware fan, was surfing some web site, he saw an advertisement on the banner -- for starters, you should move your mouse away from such potential badware or sponsored content (e.g., "Download something NOW", "Try it FREE", etc") - and then he just clicked that ad and he finally got a flagged downware, "7Zip-Setup bla bla". If you google today's target program, you may get another (so-called) optimizer for Windows PC, PC Cleaner Pro from PC Cleaners Inc.. To be fair, PC Cleaner Pro is safe to download, install and/or run so far, depending on this VT report. Yes, we used Google's Virustotal to scan those two setup files we're talking about here. But, you had better uninstall Pro PC Cleaner for security, as our upload turned to be riskware. Check out this file analysis if you want to take a closer look at Pro PC Cleaner application. And that greyware made its installation process invisible, abandoned the common "Select installation location" steps. Plus, you need to erase its component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 so you can fully get rid of Pro PC Cleaner. And, I'll have to say that, this CLEANER has a rogueware-like icon, e.g., the "Security Shield 2010".

How do I remove Pro PC Cleaner for my computer?

1. I stop the "Registry Scan" (They are just potential fakealerts regarding my clean Windows xp sp3 operating system.)
2. Then I hit the Close button, and then I press the Quit button on the below annoying on-screen info box.

3. I'm completely fed up with the traditional "Add/Remove" routine. In this post, I will teach you how to use Windows' cmd.exe to eliminate Pro PC Cleaner: Press Windows key + R key >> input CMD, hit Enter > choose Yes if you see UAC >> type CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 >> Enter >> copy and paste this line MsiExec.exe /X{78C05349-FA2C-4983-B523-AE77196C6105}, hit Enter...

4. I say Yes to the following Windows Installer.

5. I wait while that Installer application configures related stuff.

6. To automatically remove Pro PC Cleaner, I choose the 2nd option "Just uninstall".

7. I just sit tight when my xp helps finish the express uninstall of Pro PC Cleaner. The process took some time to complete.

8. I exit the CMD.EXE, close other windows, save and reboot. Then I run my Windows under Safe Mode, then I search and clean associated leftovers (e.g., ProPCCleaner_Popup in C:Windows\Tasks, PROPCCLEANER.EXE-080E5B8A.pf, etc) so I can thoroughly remove Pro PC Cleaner.
