Omniboxes.com gets onto your system as a web browser extension. After its successful intrusion, you will see it on your preferred browser, displaying ads from time to time. What you might not know is that the program can monitor your browsing behavior, obtain your tracks, and collect those useful for the publisher secretly. Who knows what specific purposes they are going to be used for? So how to remove Omniboxes.com and avoid the possible threats?

Technically we call programs of this type “browser hijacker”, which is a bit different from malware or virus. It changes your browser settings including the default homepage and search engine instead of posing serious dangers to your system or data, but it could access part of your personal information and make use of it elsewhere.

Don’t get panic when you find it on your computer, because that doesn’t mean your machine has been taken over by cyber criminals. Just remove Omniboxes.com as soon as possible, then your system will be effectively protected from potentially malicious exploitation. If you don’t quite know where to start from, don’t hesitate to get help from a licensed PC cleaning application.

How Omniboxes.com Possibly Gets Onto Your PC

It may be hidden in a software package of other software that you download. The maker relies on the fact that most users want to quickly finish the installation, neglecting the default options of bundled products.

In addition, some websites may ask you whether to add Omniboxes.com to your browser and make it your default homepage. If you carelessly click “Yes”, oops, it’s in.

Conventional Way to Remove Omniboxes.com

To ensure the complete removal, you can firstly enter Safe Mode. Considering many users still have no idea about how to access it on Windows 8/8.1, I wrote this instruction:

Part One: Enter Safe Mode on Windows 8/8.1?

This is the earliest and most professional method for restarting into Safe Mode by using "msconfig.exe" file, which actually belong to System Configuration tool - open it, select the "Boot" tab, tick the item "Safe boot" under the Boot options, and tab "OK" button below.

You will be told that you get to reboot your PC - press Restart or Exit without restart (it depends on when you want to reboot).

Then Windows8 or Windows 8.1 will load in Safe Mode after the next reboot. The next thing you’re going to do is to access Control Panel.

Part Two: Enter Control Panel on Windows 8, Windows 7/Vista and Windows XP

Part Three: Remove Omniboxes.com from Your System

To open the Windows Registry, steps are almost the same on Windows 7 and Windows 8----type regedit in the search box and press Enter key on your keyboard, you will see the Registry pops up with a new window.

A Little Heads-up in the Last

After being infected by the program, your job is to avoid clicking anything provided by it. Then terminate the program immediately to protect your system and the data against the infection. If you need to download resources on the Internet, bypass the sites that look suspicious and give priority to the official. The next time installing something, try to pay more attentions to prevent unwanted programs from entering. And don’t forget things will be easily under control as long as you have Max Uninstaller - a prominent Windows cleaner designed for your PC.

If there is any other browser hijacker you found on your browser, search its name on our site or go through our Toolbar Removal category to find the solution.
